Capsule #42 ft. Clémence Lopez
The NYC guest edit with Kiki & Livi
Hello hello,
Happy long weekend to those of you who get it 🖤
This week’s issue is a special one filled with lots of recs from across the pond. I’m passing over the mic to Kiki Sideris and Livi Empson, my colleagues from The News Movement who work in our New York office. You’re in great hands!
Kiki is a lifelong New Yorker and Reporter/Producer at The News Movement, where she dives into community activism, sustainability and diversity in fashion. The rest of her time is spent chasing the thrill of unearthing thrifted treasures – like a $15 Cult Gaia top she recently found and HAD to have…even though it doesn't quite fit. (Yeah, there may be a slight addiction).
Livi is a Londoner living in New York. She’s been here three years, in three equally tiny flats. She’s also a Reporter/Producer at The News Movement, where she spends some of her time covering books, internet trends, and politics, and the rest asking Kiki if her Depop wishlist is “cute or ugly”.
And Clémence Lopez (@clemdelacreeme) is here to share her Hot & Not with us :)))
Have a gorgeous weekend!

Hello from Livi & Kiki x
I’ve been dreaming about…
These oversized leopard print jeans. They offer a more modern take on the Y2K-inspired mob wife trend, which has been fading quite a bit since February.
But hear me out: Leopard print is a timeless neutral. After all, it’s just black and brown, which pair with almost anything. The key is finding the perfect silhouette. For me, those baggy jeans are the answer. Picture them with an oversized black blazer, or maybe a red mesh top and some Ganni flats. Becky Kim absolutely nails how versatile they can be. - Kiki

Meanwhile, I am obsessed with…
The Royel Otis ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ cover. It might not be the newest internet craze, but it is something I just keep coming back to…
Royel Otis are an Australian band made up of the iconic duo Royel Maddell and Otis Pavlovic. I've loved their music since I first heard their song ‘Oysters In My Pocket’, which was my get out of bed tune during the winter months this year.
Their ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ cover is a fun, sexy, original take on the classic pop banger that was all over our screens again when it featured in the last scene of Saltburn.
And… Royel Otis are coming to New York in May. See you there! - Livi
Next up!
A moment for Kristen Stewart’s Love Lies Bleeding press tour looks, which are so underrated. She’s wearing pants as little as possible and playing with feminine and masculine silhouettes, sometimes swapping stiletto heels for white tennis shoes and a baseball cap, or slinky halter top with a tuxedo blazer. Each look is true to both her personality (glamorous but mysterious, edgy and fun) and the movie she’s promoting.
How good???
Love Lies Bleeding is supposed to be a sexy queer romance thriller about a gym manager/criminal (Stewart) who falls for an ambitious bodybuilder (Katy O’Brian) — and they get into some trouble along the way. It’s out in the states, but you’ll have to way until 3rd May in the UK! - Kiki
And finally…
I have become attached to the niche, slightly 2000s looking, very untrusting website ‘horoscope.com’.
Why this has become the first thing I check in the morning, I don't know. Has it ever been right at predicting my future? No. But I love it. And I always seem to come back to it.
horoscope.com’s thoughts on today for Aries babies
Since moving to the U.S. I've become much more immersed, perhaps slightly even obsessed, with the world of astrology and star signs. I don't know if that's a result of my American colleagues being much more interested, or something that comes with the uncertainty of making a big life move. But now I'm a person who says with certainty and a weird confidence things like, ‘oh that's so Pisces of him.’
My reliance on this strange site really indicates how much I've changed. On one day this week, I was told that “being in my own territory amongst books and pets and wearing old clothes will feel good.”
Umm.. okay. Let's go xxx - Livi
This week, Clémence Lopez (aka @clemdelacreeme) popped into Capsule to share what’s 🔥hot🔥 and what’s not 🙅♀️ …
Clémence is a fashion and lifestyle content creator originally from the south of France. She’s obsessed with digitally sharing her life and outfits, and writing her Substack (when she’s had four matcha lattes and has all the energy).
🔥🔥🔥Hot🔥🔥🔥
Matcha (is it ever not hot?), politics, manifestation, going absolutely feral post-breakup, soup dumplings (they have to be pork), Bottega, anything with a balloon hem, being straight-forward with people
Hot Not… 🙅♀️🙅♀️🙅♀️
Dating apps, bloat, platform shoes (we're talking about the like huuuuge ones), caffeine anxiety, capricorns, punching women in the streets of NYC, oatmeal cookies
📺 Watching: I've ventured out of obsessively rewatching Gilmore Girls and am actually into a show that people care about: The Gentlemen. It's nice seeing Theo James and Kaya Scodelario - my teen faves from Divergent and Skins - in the leading parts. Although, I know I won't hear the end of it from my American colleagues (Kiki) who don't get why every new hot series or movie is set in a gigantic British mansion. - Livi
Kiki here - I guess British TV and film is in its “eat the rich” era…
📖 Reading: Emma Cline’s short story collection for something light and easy. Cline’s The Guest was a summer reading staple last year; all my friends seemed to be oddly enamoured by the toxic and destructive character of Alex, the book's protagonist. It was my first introduction to Cline’s writing, and she’s just brilliant, so I highly recommend picking up a copy of Daddy, her short story collection. I've been bad at committing to books recently, so it's perfect for dipping in and out of if you’re prone to forgetting the plot. - Livi
🎧 Listening to: I can’t get enough of Paramore’s cover of the Talking Heads’ ‘Burning Down The House.’ Hayley Williams’s vocals are SO DELICIOUS against the guitar, bass and drums. Dare I say this rendition is even better than the original? This track kicks off A24's Stop Making Sense tribute album, which will also feature Miley Cyrus, Lorde, The National, and a bunch of other very talented artists. A24 hasn't set a release date yet, but I need the rest of it NOW! - Kiki
Livi here - Kiki and I constantly talk about how opposing our music taste is. But I am going to see The National, and that does have me excited…
Meet Murphy
Kiki and Livi sat down with Murphy to chat all things trend prediction. Here’s what they see coming in…
After a year dominated by the “girlification” of everything, an influx of bows, and box office bangers like Barbie and Poor Things, the quiet luxury era is loudly making its exit. This summer, we’ll see vibrant magentas, animal print everything, delicate chiffon, and intricate lace.
That includes wearing the clothes we already have while accentuating every outfit with accessories. Think hot pink crochet mini bags, cheugy butterfly necklaces and beaded belts. Because while buying all-new clothes is a sustainability ick, that bright red pair of ballet flats will to be a summer staple.
If you’d like to adopt Murphy or one of his friends, click here to learn more.
Thanks for reading! I’d love to hear how you’re finding Capsule - let me know here. And if you have a friend who might like it, please forward on 🥺
See you next week 💋
